Solar installers – One of the fastest growing jobs in the nation

Solar installers – One of the fastest growing jobs in the nation

Blog
In the solar industry, North Liberty-based solar company Moxie became one of the state’s early adopters of solar when it began operations in 2008. Company founder Jason Hall said Moxie has grown from seven employees in fewer than five years ago to close to 100 — with the large majority of those employees in Iowa. Hall attributed growth in jobs to the strength of the solar market across the state, which has been driven largely by the falling cost of installing solar arrays. Hall said the cost has dropped from about $8 per watt a decade ago to around $3 per watt. “There’s never been a better time, from an economics point of view, to purchase solar,” he said. Growth in solar has allowed the company to expand into other…

Moxie Rebrands for a National Image – Corridor Business Journal

Blog
“Moxie: America’s Solar Company” was the new brand and tagline introduced April 11 at Moxie’s Dixon, Illinois, operations center. CEO Jason Hall said the company has been growing fast, and some things had to change. “We’re now in Denver, Austin, Cleveland, Chicago,” Mr. Hall said. “It was our opinion that our [previous] logo wasn’t going to play as well in those markets. We kind of look like the local solar installer. We want to be seen as a national provider.” Mr. Hall founded the company in North Liberty in 2008. In its original iteration as Greenhall Industries, the business helped Iowans become more energy efficient with services such as lighting upgrades that could be funded partly through utility rebates. When Iowa approved a solar income tax credit in 2012 to…

Moxie Solar meets with State Representative Art Staed

Blog
Today CEO Jenn Hall and President Jason Hall met with a State Representative from Iowa House District 66 in Cedar Rapids. Art Staed stopped by Moxie Solar to talk about the future of solar energy in Iowa.  Art had this to say: "The Halls are concerned about current policy and budget legislation that would remove solar tax credits and other energy-saving incentives while placing barriers on grid connection, including flat monthly rates. Moxie Solar's request, “We just need things to remain ‘status quo’.”  I agree with the Halls, and not just because solar is better for the environment than fossil fuels - which it certainly is - but it's fiscally sound. Economically, Iowa can’t afford to risk losing hundreds of good-paying solar energy jobs. Solar energy tax credits pay for…
