New York Solar Rebates

New York solar tax credits, there are great rebates available to most of NY. Unlike tax credits, rebates provide instant savings on your total solar installation cost.

More Money-Saving Incentives

On top of the Federal ITC solar rebate there are more great incentives you’ll be able to take advantage of when you install solar in New York.

Megawatt Block Incentive Structure

NY’s Megawatt Block Incentive is a direct incentive for solar available under the NY-Sun Initiative. The program provides an up front dollars-per-watt ($/W) rebate for both commercial and residential solar panel systems.

NY Net Metering

If you’re a customer of ConEd, National Grid, PSE&G, or other investor-owned utilities,. you’ll be able to take advantage of net metering with a new residential solar system. Net metering allows you to earn credits on your electric bill on days when your system produces more energy than you use. You can then use those credits on days when your system produces less than what you need (can happen in wintertime).

NY Solar Equipment Tax Credit

This tax credit can cut your state tax payments by up to $5,000 or 25% off the total solar energy expenses (whichever is lower). To claim the Solar Equipment Tax Credit you don’t have to purchase your system to claim the credit so leasing is applicable. If your tax liability isn’t large enough in the first year, you can roll it over into the next year.

Federal Solar Tax Credit (ITC)

2020 is the last year the Federal Solar Tax Credit will be at 26 percent! After that it goes down significantly each year. The ITC allows you to deduct 26% of the cost of your solar energy system from your federal taxes.
