A Look Back at How MOXIE Introduced More Communities to Solar Energy

The MOXIE mission was born out of a desire to bring renewable energy to Iowa. Through hard work, dedication, and an unstoppable team, we were able to outgrow that goal. Our new focus expands to the entire United States. As we reach out to more communities, it’s important to remember how far we have come and what got us here. We will never forget our roots and the projects that helped us become the solar industry leader that we are today. Why Going Solar Makes Good Business Sense

The popularity of solar energy is on the rise. The Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA) reported that the United States installed 2.7 gigawatts of solar PV capacity in the first quarter of 2019. That amounts to enough capacity to provide 12.7 homes with power. It’s a 10% increase compared to the previous year. That trend doesn’t show any signs of taking a downward turn, either. SEIA predicts that PV capacity across America will more than double in the next five years. That would put the country at over 15 gigawatts installed annually. American Businesses Make the Move to Solar Energy Solar isn’t just for residential properties, either. Businesses have taken notice. Many are moving forward with projects to switch their operation to solar power. Brian Brown owns the Iowa-based granite…

Chicago Solar Rebates That Will Lower Your Installation Costs

Blog
Solar panel installations are on the rise as solar produces around 1% of electricity generated around the globe. That number is up to 1.6% in the United States. DNV GL released its 2018 Energy Transition Outlook, which predicts that the reach of solar electricity could expand by 65 times in the coming years. That would place it as one of the biggest energy sources in the world. There’s no denying the power and potential of renewable solar. Despite the promising outlook, there are still many who aren’t ready to take the next step. One of the primaryconcerns is cost. While solar can save people in Chicago a lot of money on utility bills, there is an initial investment that must be made first. Get a free quote & consultation to…

Sunshine Tax Casts Shadow Over Iowa’s Growing Solar Industry

Change often comes with growing pains. This is especially true in the renewable energy industry. While many embrace alternative power options and their financial and environmental benefits, others do not. The biggest opposition often comes from those who stand to lose money. Iowa’s solar industry is expanding. While the state remains a leader in wind power, solar is an up-and-comer. According to the Solar Energy Industries Association, Iowa invested $204.05 million total in solar energy, producing enough power to run 11,000 homes. This is good news for anyone who wants to save money, protect the environment, and see job growth in the region. For others, it’s a reason to push legislation that will cast a shadow over the financial benefits of a growing solar industry. What Is the Sunshine Tax?…

Solar installers – One of the fastest growing jobs in the nation

Blog
In the solar industry, North Liberty-based solar company Moxie became one of the state’s early adopters of solar when it began operations in 2008. Company founder Jason Hall said Moxie has grown from seven employees in fewer than five years ago to close to 100 — with the large majority of those employees in Iowa. Hall attributed growth in jobs to the strength of the solar market across the state, which has been driven largely by the falling cost of installing solar arrays. Hall said the cost has dropped from about $8 per watt a decade ago to around $3 per watt. “There’s never been a better time, from an economics point of view, to purchase solar,” he said. Growth in solar has allowed the company to expand into other…

Moxie Rebrands for a National Image – Corridor Business Journal

“Moxie: America’s Solar Company” was the new brand and tagline introduced April 11 at Moxie’s Dixon, Illinois, operations center. CEO Jason Hall said the company has been growing fast, and some things had to change. “We’re now in Denver, Austin, Cleveland, Chicago,” Mr. Hall said. “It was our opinion that our [previous] logo wasn’t going to play as well in those markets. We kind of look like the local solar installer. We want to be seen as a national provider.” Mr. Hall founded the company in North Liberty in 2008. In its original iteration as Greenhall Industries, the business helped Iowans become more energy efficient with services such as lighting upgrades that could be funded partly through utility rebates. When Iowa approved a solar income tax credit in 2012 to…
